A recent study at Duke
University found that a prolonged exercise program worked equally well for
victims suffering major depression than prescription and over-the-counter
drugs. The study included over 200 people who were closely monitored, and
antidepressants had very similar benefits as exercise. This according to
the Psychosomatic Medicine (September, 2007).
If you're depressed, seek
help from a professional. But exercise may hold the key to getting beyond
where you are now. Or if you aren't depressed, perhaps exercise will help
you keep your confidence and stamina up.
